Carlsberg Bulgaria

Carlsberg Group in Bulgaria

Carlsberg Bulgaria can trace its roots back to 1882, when the Czech brewer Franz Milde arrived in the town of Shumen. Together with local entrepreneurs, he founded Shumensko pivo, one of the oldest breweries in Bulgaria.

The modern company dates from 2002, when Carlsberg acquired a majority shareholding of Shumensko pivo and later the same year of the Pirinsko pivo brewery, located in the town of Blagoevgrad. The two breweries merged to become Carlsberg Bulgaria in 2004.

Today Carlsberg Bulgaria is the leading beer company in the country with 47% market share in volume. It is an excellent example of how international experience; local traditions and a 141-year heritage can combine to provide first-class products. Carlsberg Bulgaria is one of the major investors in the country, contributing to the local and national economy and setting highest standards for the brewing industry.
