On August 24th, Stephen W. Hawking received a standing ovation after he captivated the audience with the lecture "Quantum Black Holes".

The lecture event was held in the DR Concert Hall in Copehangen to an audience of 1,800 spectators. Additionally, around 8,000 Danes were able to watch the lecture live in cinema theatres across Denmark.

After the lecture, the distinguished guest was greeted by Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Professor Flemming Besenbacher, Chairman of the Carlsberg Foundation.

Professor Besenbacher even awarded Mr. Hawking with a bottle of the original Rebrew beer, brewed on original yeast from 1883. The yeast has surprisingly survived 133 years in a beer bottle in Carlsberg brewery’s old cellars, and leading brewing experts have now managed to rebrew what is considered the father of most modern day lager beers.

The event was organized by the Carlsberg Foundation, the DR Concert Hall, The Niels Bohr International Academy and the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences.
